TCI is pleased to announce the promotion of Dave Severson to the newly created position of Director of Sales. For the past 2 years as Segment Manager, Dave has helped transform TCI into a segment driven business leading both our Automotive and TruCoater™ efforts. Prior to working at TCI, Dave was in commercial leadership positions with Valspar, Ashland Chemical and HB Fuller. Dave is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and is based in Columbus, OH. We are excited to announce that we have developed an American Institute of Architects (AIA) approved continuing education course to further the expertise of our valued coating professionals! We worked with Ron Blank and Associates to develop a course designed to give architects a more detailed view of the important issues related to the specification and use of powder coatings on their projects. The course is instructor-led, live and can be presented by either webinar or as lunch and learns. The training course will be available as two webinars given in conjunction with Ron Blank and Associates. Official webinar course dates will be announced within the next few weeks. The training will also be available as face to face lunch and learns. These lunch and learn courses can be set-up by the sales representative. We are pleased to announce Tom Hanson as Architectural & Building Products Segment Manager. Tom brings over 20 years of industrial powder coating commercial experience to this position with TCI. His prior work history spans across several different disciplines such as sales and sales management, market development, and general management. Most recently, Tom held a Regional Sales Manager position with PPG Industries. Prior to this, Tom worked for Spraylat and Valspar. Tom is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a B.S. in Business and he is a former board member of the Powder Coating Institute (PCI). He will continue to reside in Franklin, TN. TCI recently developed a specially formulated product for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). FCA needed a “Demonic Red” color that would meet underbody and under-hood requirements as well as performance specifications to protect the valve covers and engine blocks of the Dodge Challenger SRT ®  Demon. Other powder coaters were struggling to find a match within a reasonable timeline. With the support of the Product Development Team, the development of the “Demonic Red” color was prioritized and launched via our stage gate process. Through this process, we were able to quickly dedicate our resources, prioritize the project, and deliver on an expedited timeframe! The Chrysler Zr3 Performance Red powder coating was developed and soon approved by FCA. TCI was able to deliver on our promise of quick turnaround without sacrificing performance or quality. The TCI team is pleased to announce the opening of the new Product Development Laboratory in Americus, Georgia. Planning for the lab started in the Spring of 2016 with the official opening taking place in January of 2017. The primary functions of the lab include developing innovative products, improving current technologies, and producing rapid color matches! Other lab features include analytical work, corrosion testing, environmental research and testing, manufacturing, and customer support. The state of the art color matching equipment and software combined with an upgraded database of improved pigments will provide us with unparalleled color matching capabilities and quick turn-around times. Additionally, a styling room is available for critical color matching/styling work, and there is plenty of space for customer collaboration and employee training. TCI would like to welcome Dale Blackwell to his new position as Director of Manufacturing. Dale is originally from Tennessee, but has been in Covington, GA for the past 10 years. He officially joined us and relocated to the Americus area with his wife and their two boys on May 1st. Dale earned a degree in Chemistry from Lambuth University, where he also played football. He has spent the last 16 years with Valspar Corporation managing various powder manufacturing locations. Prior to this, he worked for Drexel Chemical Company and for A&L Analytical labs. We are pleased to announce Jeff Gorden as the new Account Manager for the Illinois territory! Jeff has an excellent track record in account management and business development in the industrial coatings segment. Prior to joining TCI, Jeff was a Key Account Executive with PPG. He has also held positions with Spraylat and Rohm & Haas/Morton. Jack Bostock, TCI Vice President of Sales and Marketing, expressed, “We are thrilled to have Jeff join our team. TCI Powder Coatings welcomes David Mount as a new Field Technical Service Representative! David has spent an impressive 25 years in the automotive and industrial coatings industry. Previously, David was employed by PPG and Valspar. At PPG, David was a Technical Sales and Service Representative in the Automotive Refinish Industry. Later, he worked for their General Industrial Division as an Onsite Applications Engineer working with pretreatment, liquid, powder, electro coat, and paint detackification. For the last 12 years, At Valspar, David worked in various roles, such as Onsite Applications Engineer, National Account Manager, Technical Service, and Sales Management. His experience makes him a fantastic fit at TCI. David currently resides in The Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri with his daughter, Shelby. He is excited to take on this new career with TCI. TCI Powder Coatings is excited to welcome Jon Mohn as a new Field Technical Service Representative! With an impressive 28 years in the powder coating industry, Jon’s previous places of employment include Gema, GE, and Winona PVD. During his 22 years at Gema, he took on several positions. He started out doing installations and later moved on to become Regional Service Engineer. In this role, he was responsible for training new and old customers, helping customers with issues, and helping sales with new equipment. At GE, he worked as a Process Improvement Engineer. At Winona PVD, Jon worked as a Paint Process Engineer, primarily coating wheels for Ford Trucks. With his extensive experience, Jon is an ideal addition to the TCI team. Jon has three children, two sons and one daughter, all currently pursuing degrees at either Xavier University in Cincinnati, or IU University in Bloomington Indiana. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in powder coatings and account management to this position, which will further our efforts to grow our TruCoater network of customers. For the past 3 years, Andrew has been involved in a comprehensive training program that includes hands-on experience in our Product Development, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Quality departments. Most recently, Andrew has been a Field Technical Service Representative in our Michigan and Northern Indiana territories. Prior to this, Andrew held the position of Regional Manager for Rockford Systems, LLC. and a supervisory role with the Rockford Park District. This year, the Jeep brand achieved an important milestone: its 75th anniversary. To commemorate this landmark, the Jeep marketing team rolled out Anniversary Special Edition models of several vehicles. Exclusive details included distinct vehicle colors and trim packages on the 2016 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited fleet. One of these trim packages is a coated in a specialized bronze color.
